Biography:

Over the years between 2003-2005, Battersea's only Country & Western crooner used the downtime at Free World Records studio to record some of his original works. Along with some of his band mates, he'd arrive at the studio at midnight and work through till the pub opened. As his drummer ran off with his wife (or one of them!) he was staunchly opposed to any form of percussionist and decided a drum machine was a more reliable means of keeping the beat. He played some of the folk festivals around Europe, noteably The Weird Beard Festival in Stockholm, where he performed naked to rapturous applause, making the headlines of The Stockholm Press, Sweden remains the most popular territory for record sales.

One of the guitarists from his band, Steve Gullick, works as a photographer and cine 8 film maker and has some rare footage of Dog Ears both playing live and in the studio. These sessions were approached in a totally random way, Dog Ears literally making some of the songs up as he went along. We've put together a number of pieces to form an album entitled 'Gutted', Dog Ears' favourite expression and a summing up of the non frilly approach to music.

Things started to go wrong when he was given a sponsorship deal by Jack Daniels. His usual consumption of StrongBow cider was replaced by the potent Bourbon, which he insisted on drinking by the pint. The untimely death of one of 'Rock's Originals' (quote Sean O'Hagan, The Observer Magazine) has left a back catalogue of original works referencing The Blues, Reggae, Rock and Electronica. These sessions were recorded mostly in one take and remain unsurpassed, even by the great Van Morrison, who incidently wants to record an album of cover versions of Dog Ears songs. We're still finding new works on the endless stream of Digital Audio tape he used to record onto, there may well be a second album.
